Ground Mexican Allspice

  • Fine ground dried Pimenta (or Pimento) fruits.
  • A fresh peppery flavour, with an overlay of nutmeg, cinnamon and clove flavours.
  • Suitable for both sweet and savoury cooking.

Uses for Allspice

  • In Jamaican Jerk recipes:
    Allspice is often accompanied by other spices such as chilli, garlic, onions, coriander, vinegar and citrus juices to make spicy, tangy jerk paste.
  • In stews & hot pots: Ground allspice is a lovely seasoning to enhance a warming winter stew or hot meat dish. You could even add a interesting twist to a soup or broth.
  • Baking: Allspice adds an interesting twist to both sweet and savoury baking. Try it in yeast breads, fruit buns or coffee cake (to name a few suggestions).
  • Mulled wine: There are many variations to mulled wine. Allspice is a favourite ingredient.
