TASTING PANEL MILK ALTERNATIVES

Unsweetened Almond Milk 1 litre (Pip & Nut)

Unsweetened Almond Milk 1 litre (Pip & Nut)

Perfect for making dairy-free sauces.

Tina: “Oooh it has a nice, strong roasted almond taste.”

Agata: “I love it. I think it would work really well in a bechamel sauce.”

Dom: “One for the adults. I think they must make this from almonds with quite a dark roast, and the lack of sweetness is striking. This is the gin & tonic of milk alternatives. There’s a creamy aftertaste all the same.”

Mia: “Yes – I think this is perfect for savoury sauces, or for those who aren’t overly fond of sweet milks.”

Soya Milk 1L (Bonsoy)

Soya Milk 1L (Bonsoy)

Favourite as a stand alone drink!

Kevin: “SO thick and creamy. I think this is my favourite. I would drink this on its own, either warm or cold. I make my own soya milk every day, but I think I might replace it with this!”

Gabriel: “This is delicious. Really thick and creamy. I think it would be great to use in dessert recipes.”

Mia: “Or poured over cereal! It’s super sweet and creamy. I could drink a glass of it straight from the fridge!”

Cashew Milk 1 litre, Organic (Plenish)

Cashew Milk 1 litre, Organic (Plenish)

Perfect for cashew lovers!

Dom: “This has a pleasant cashew taste with a semi-skimmed consistency. It’s full of monounsaturated fats too, so it’s pretty guilt-free if you want to add a nutty taste to your muesli.”

Agata: “This is another milk that isn’t overly sweet. I am a fan of milks like this. It would work well in savoury sauces, like the almond milk. I would also add it to smoothies.”

Dimitris: “I think milk that is not so sweet is great, because you can choose to add sweetness to it. I don’t like really sweet milks, because they can sometimes be a bit cloying. This cashew drink is perfect because I can make it sweeter if I want to by adding dates or maple syrup.”

Rice Dream Rice Milk With Calcium 1 Litre

Rice Dream Rice Milk With Calcium 1 Litre

The perfect choice for those with nut or soya allergies!

Dom: “For some reason the taste of this one reminds me of wafers. I’d like to make custard from this and see how it turns out.”

Tina: “YES! The sweetness would really lend itself to something like custard or like a semolina pudding.”

Dimitri: “Its a great option for those who can’t have soya or nuts. I like that there is added calcium too!”

Coconut Original Milk Drink + Calcium, 1 Litre (KoKo)

Coconut Original Milk Drink + Calcium, 1 Litre (KoKo)

Great for making porridge or pouring over cereal.

Gabriel: “I like this. It’s subtly sweet and the flavour of coconut isn’t overwhelming. This would go really well in porridge or over cereal.”

Dom: “This has an alluring sweetness behind the coconut flavour. It’s sweetened with grape juice concentrate. If I had the time I’d try making some kind of wibbly-wobbly set milk pudding using this.”

Mia: “Creamier than I thought it would be! I think the slight coconut taste might be quite good in coffee.”

Barista Oat Milk 1 litre (Oatly)

Barista Oat Milk 1 litre (Oatly)

The best for mixing with hot drinks.

Gabriel: “I can see what the hype is about. It’s neither sweet nor plain, meaning it can be used for a wide array of things. It’s my number one choice for cereal!”

Dom: “If I soaked oats in single cream overnight and then strained it, I imagine the result would be almost exactly like this. I’d pour this on apple pie. I’m really impressed. No wonder this is so popular! If this had been around 2000 years ago, Cleopatra would have bathed in it.”

Agata: “Very very creamy. The best option to have with my tea or coffee. I also add it to my protein shake!”
