A wonderfully flavoursome Middle Eastern spice blend. Perfect for infusing soups and stews with a warm, aromatic flavour. Great for marinating too!
Organic Cumin Powder 100g (Sussex Wholefoods)
2 tsp of Cumin Powder.
Organic Smoked Paprika 100g (Sussex Wholefoods)
2tsp Smoked Spanish Paprika. This form of Paprika is essential in order to provide depth of flavour and that hint of meatiness without meat.
Coriander Powder, Organic 100g (Sussex Wholefoods)
1 tsp Coriander Powder.
Organic Black Pepper Powder 100g (Sussex Wholefoods)
1 tsp of Black Pepper Powder.
Organic Ceylon Cinnamon Powder (100g) - Sussex Wholefoods
½ tsp of Ceylon Cinnamon Powder. Use Sri Lankan cinnamon as opposed to Cassia Bark Powder for a smoother flavour.
Organic Ground Nutmeg 100g (Sussex Wholefoods)
½ tsp of Ground Nutmeg.
Ground Cloves 50g (Hampshire Foods)
¼ tsp of Ground Cloves.
Cardamom Seed Powder, Organic 50g (Sussex Wholefoods)
¼ tsp of Cardamom Powder. This provides unique aromatic sweetness.
Method
- In a clean dry mixing bowl combine all the spices with a spoon until well blended.
- Transfer to a clean, dry container with an airtight lid. If you are making a larger batch or if you will be storing the Baharat Spice Mix for longer than a few weeks, we recommend sterilising an airtight jam jar prior to transferring the powder.
- Secure the lid, then label. Keep in a cool, dry and dark place.
- To get the best flavour from your spice blend it is best to prepare small batches and use within 3 months.
