BBQ Blend
- Smoky, Sweet and Spicy
- This is a succulent blend of spices to keep in store for when you want to whip up an authentic smoky BBQ tasting dish. It complements meat particularly well, with the coconut sugar crystallising to create a sweet crust on the meat.
- We recommend rubbing the spices onto skinless chicken joints before placing they under the grill or barbecue for a perfect summer dish!
- Most ready made blends contain too much salt and sugar. Here we feel the mix is just right. Additionally, we have used coconut sugar which is low GI and much better for you than regular sugar.
Organic Coconut Sugar 1kg (Sussex Wholefoods)
6 tbsp coconut sugar
Chilli Powder 100g (Sussex Wholefoods)
1 tbsp chilli powder
Cracked Black Pepper 100g (Hampshire Foods)
½ tsp cracked black pepper
Cayenne Pepper Powder 250g (Sussex Wholefoods)
½ tsp cayenne pepper
Organic Thyme Leaves 50g (Sussex Wholefoods)
½ tsp thyme
Onion Powder 200g (Sussex Wholefoods)
½ tsp onion powder
Organic Garlic Salt 100g (Sussex Wholefoods)
1 tsp garlic salt
Method
- Put all of the ingredients into a bowl and mix well.
- Store in an airtight container to ensure maximum freshness!
- You can either grind it down with pestle and mortar, or alternatively this blend can be made by placing all ingredients in a jar and shaking until mixed. Easy!
