Juicy Eyeballs
These vegan-friendly eyeballs may look gruesome, but they taste delicious! We used agar agar to make the jelly bases and blue berries for the pupil. We used food colouring to make the blood vessels. They also float, meaning you can add them to your halloween punch for an extra gory kick!
Organic Agar Agar Powder 50g (Sussex Wholefoods)
2 tsp Agar Agar powder
2 cups of oat milk
Buckwud Canadian Maple Syrup 250g (Rowse)
2 tbsp maple syrup
Traditional Vanilla Extract 50ml (Natural Vanilla)
1 tsp vanilla extract
Other Ingredients
Fresh blueberries
Red food colouring gel
Method
- Place one blueberry in the bottom of your small dome shape moulds. Squirt your red food colouring in the shape of veins around the blueberry. It helps if you have gel food colouring as it holds its shape better.
- Next, add the oat milk, agar agar, maple syrup and vanilla extract to a pan. Simmer over a medium heat until the mixture starts to bubble and thicken slightly.
- Spoon the mixture into the moulds and place in the fridge to set for at least an hour.
- Pop out from the moulds when you are ready to serve, and voila! A bowl of scary eyeballs!
