Pistachio Halva

It’s a dense, sweet treat made from sesame seeds and sweetened and infused with the rich aroma of maple syrup and studded with delicious pistachio nuts.
The nutty flavour of the sesame seeds and pistachios pairs perfectly with the earthy sweetness of maple syrup creating a smooth texture that melts in your mouth with each bite.
Organic Hulled Sesame Seeds 1kg (Sussex Wholefoods)
500g Sesame Seeds
Pistachios, No Salt 1kg (Sussex Wholefoods)
50g Pistachios
Buckwud Canadian Maple Syrup 250g (Rowse)
120g Maple Syrup
Vanilla Powder Grade A 25g (Sussex Wholefoods)
0.5tsp Vanilla Powder
Sea Salt Fine 1kg (Sussex Wholefoods)

Method
- Layer a 20 x 10 cm dish with a baking paper. Set aside.
- Gently toast sesame seeds on a dry pan, make sure not to burn the seeds. Leave to cool.
- Add sesame seeds to a blender and blend until you get a fine powder.
- Add pistachios, maple syrup and vanilla extract and blend until combined.
- Transfer your halva mix to a dish, even the surface and press using your hands. Place in the fridge for 2 hours.
- Slice and serve as a dessert.
