- A French Favourite
- This spice mixture is an interesting blend that can be used in both sweet and savoury dishes.
- This mix originates from France but can be found in European and Middle Eastern cuisine. The literal translation of the name means “four spices”.
- It is a subtlly spicy and warm blend. The bite of the pepper is softened by the sweet spiciness of the ginger, nutmeg and cloves.
- This would taste great stirred in with vegetables or used as a coating for fish or chicken.
Organic White Peppercorns 100g (Sussex Wholefoods)
2 tbsp white peppercorns
Ground Cloves 50g (Hampshire Foods)
1 tbsp ground cloves
Ground Nutmeg 100g (Sussex Wholefoods)
1 tbsp ground nutmeg
Organic Ginger Powder 100g (Sussex Wholefoods)
1 tbsp ginger powder
Other Ingredients
Method
- Place the white peppercorns into the mortar and crush until you have a fine powder consistency
- Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
- Store in an airtight container to ensure maximum freshness!
- If you do not have a pestle and mortar, this blend can be made by placing all ingredients in a jar and shaking until mixed.
