At Healthy Supplies, we take our responsibility as an ethical company seriously. We make sure that we give back to our local community and the world community as a whole. In the last year we have donated 12% of our profits to charitable causes. Our ethos is to help make the world a healthier, happier place. We aim to do this by supplying healthy, ethical products to the market and by giving back to the global community wherever we can.
Our Mission:
It is our mission to operate in the most eco-friendly way possible. As an online retailer, we have a responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint and practise environmentally-friendly processes. We only have one planet - there is no planet B! So we want to ensure that we leave as little behind as possible. We also want to help our customers do the same! We are keen to enrich the market with a plethora of eco-friendly products and alternatives to make your eco-friendly journey as easy as possible!
How is Healthy Supplies Eco-Friendly?
We have rebranded our entire Sussex Wholefoods range. Every Sussex Wholefoods product will now come in fully recyclable packaging, from the resealable packs to our machine film. Even the stickers that we use are recyclable. We are really proud of this project and can't wait to hear what you think about our new designs.
We re-use all the boxes we’re sent, and those that can't be used to box up orders are turned into eco-friendly packaging. The majority of our boxes are currently purchased from a third-party company that essentially saves the boxes from being needlessly dumped into a landfill site. The boxes we purchase from this company are mostly leftovers from redundant stock. So if you receive your order in a branded box, don't worry - they have either been purchased unused or they have been recycled and rendered food-safe!
We have axed the bubble wrap and the cling film in favour of recyclable paper and cardboard. We’ve banished plastic tape, and now only use paper tape.
We operate a 'return and reuse' policy with our chilled packaging. Please ensure you retain your chilled gel packs and chilled envelopes. Once you've made 8 chilled orders, please contact us and we'll send you a returns label to send it back to us. The packaging will be disinfected and reused to minimise the environmental impact.
We power our warehouse mostly on solar power. We are looking to move towards being entirely run on solar energy.
We have so far planted over 200,000 trees and cleared over 30,000 plastic bottles from our oceans. See more about our environmental pledges below.
We work with Fareshare to donate any surplus food to local food banks and charities.
Our Environmental Pledges:
In our ongoing mission to become more sustainable, we’ve teamed up with Verdn to attach high-quality environmental impacts to every single order made on our site. This means each order placed with us enables us to plant trees or clear plastic from oceans and rivers with the help of our partners. You will see highlighted in the basket how many trees the order is planting, or how many kg of plastic the order helps clear. The environmental impact is unique to each order, transparent, and fully trackable. After placing your order with us, if you choose to, you’ll receive a link to your very own tracking dashboard allowing you to track the progress of your pledge. You can see, in real time, the positive impact you are having on the planet.
How does it work?
It's simple. Each time you shop with us, your order will lead either to trees being planted or plastic in oceans and rivers being cleared. You will see the pledges attached to your order in the basket. The more you spend, the greater the environmental impact. The breakdown is listed below. Order values are the amount excluding postage. Orders over £50 can choose either to clear plastic or plant trees:
- Order values up to £49.99 = 1 tree will be planted.
- Order values between £50 - £99.99 will plant 5 trees, or you can choose to clear 1 kg ocean-bound plastic.
- Order values more than £100 will plant 10 trees, or you can choose to clear 2 kg ocean-bound plastic.
Our partners Empower AS and Eden Projects take a holistic approach to reforestation and ecological restoration. They partner with villages and provide training and fair wages. These important projects provide the villagers with consistent income that helps them provide for their families, as well as helping the environment.
