The sea buckthorn berry contains some of the highest amounts of vitamin C found in fruit. These dry berries have a strong, citrus-like aroma, and when squeezed or ground, they release their oils. The oils contain plant sterols and the antioxidant vitamin E. The concentrated levels of vitamins, antioxidants and fats found in sea buckthorn make it a revered superfood in the health industry. It is considered to benefit heart health, cholesterol levels and is also good for the skin. It can even be applied direct to the skin as a natural topical oil.

Their flavour is quite bitter and lemony. The best way to eat these is to dilute their intensity by adding them to refreshing, juicy salad leaves or other sweet foods like banana, strawberry or yoghurt.
