Whole Large Bay Leaves - 20g

Please note that these are now Indian bay leaves, (Cinnamomum tejpata). These bay leaves have a stronger flavour and are suitable for use in curries. Please see true bay leaves for the normal, Mediterranean type.
  • Bay leaves are used in stews, soups, curries and casseroles.
  • Cooked whole, they release their mild herby flavour in to other sauces and juices.
  • Popular in Mediterranean and Indian Cuisine.
The Bay leaf is best left to simmer in a saucy dish. If eaten, the bay leaf is quite bitter but when heated during cooking, the leaf releases its herby fragrance. The flavour of bay leaf is similar to Oregano or Thyme.
