These pale-skinned peanuts are ready to eat or roast as you wish. These peanuts will provide an excellent source of protein, and extra fibre because of the skins. There is also ongoing research into the benefits of consuming the reddish skins on these peanuts, mostly concerning their possible antioxidant effect.
The taste of these raw peanuts is hard to describe. They have a flavour reminiscent of fresh beans or peas, a light and fresh nuttiness. This is hardly surprising bearing in mind that the peanut is actually part of the legume or bean family.
These peanuts can be ground down in a coffee grinder and mixed with oil and/or water for a raw peanut butter. They would also work very well crushed and stirred through a green salad.
