- A stronger flavoured tea.
- CTC (Crush, Tear, and Curl) method of processing.
- Can be drunk with or without milk.
- Requires a tea sieve/infuser for brewing.
Pure loose black tea from Ceylona is grown no higher than 650 metres above sea level in the Southern region of Sri Lanka. This low elevation produces a tea leaf which is strong in colour and flavour.
Crush, Tear, and Curl (CTC) is a method of harvesting and processing black tea. The harvested and dried leaves are passed under rollers which literally crush, tear and then curl the leaves.
Flavour and Colour:
This tea produces a rich, slightly malty flavoured tea with a subtle citrus overtone.
CTC black tea is usually a darker colour when dry, from dark brown to dark red. When brewed, it produces a deep golden brown tea.
Directions:
This tea is best used in a tea pot, though will work very will inside an infuser. All you need is one teaspoon of dry tea per person.
Boil some water and add the tea to the hot water. Leave it to infuse for 3-4 minutes. Serve as you would normal tea. This can be enjoyed with or without milk, or even with a lemon slice - it's your choice.
This black tea tastes perfect even when brewed with hard water in European regions.
