Haricot beans are light and fluffy inside when cooked.
Can be added to pates, soups, chilli con carne, salads and other savoury meals.
Good source of protein and fibre.
Haricot beans are little off-white oval shaped beans. They are used in many types of cuisine, including South American, Mediterranean, and Asian. Haricot beans are also widely consumed in the UK and the USA. They are actually the beans used in one of the nation's favourites; baked beans (canned beans in tomato sauce).
Directions
Normal cooking: Soak haricot beans for as long as possible before cooking (overnight is ideal). Next, add the beans straight to boiling water and boil for 20 minutes before simmering for around 1 hour.
In a pressure cooker: You can cook haricot beans in a pressure cooker without soaking them. Simply place in the pressure cooker, cover with water and cook for around 45 minutes. If you soak the beans overnight, then they will cook in around 20 minutes in a pressure cooker.
