- Rinse the red split lentils under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Add the lentils and water to a saucepan.
- Bring the water to a boil over high heat.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the lentils are soft and cooked through.
- Drain any excess water and season with salt and pepper to taste
