Vitamin E is an essential antioxidant. It prevents polyunsaturated fats within the body from being oxidised by free radicals. Without this, essential fats within cell membranes would transform into other types of fats, including saturated fats.

Vitamin E is not a single compound, and comes in many forms. Lamberts Natural Vitamin E is derived from natural sources rather than synthesized, and is of the form d-alpha tocopherol. The cheaper synthetic form of Vitamin E is called dl-alpha tocopherol and has a lower bioavailability (i.e. it is less readily usable by the body).

The dose in this tablet - 400iu - is regarded as a sensible dose, and is the equivalent of 0.45kg of sunflower seeds.
