Fruits, Vegetables and Pulses

Fruit

Fruit is nature's sweetest gift, and one of the finest snack foods in existence. There are many hundreds of different varieties grown all over the world, and they're a fantastic source of beneficial vitamins and minerals, which the body needs to grow, maintain biological processes and repair damage. They also usually contain a great amount of fibre, which keeps our digestive system working efficiently. Fruit is usually low in calories and fat, and high in beneficial plant compounds which protect us against disease, slow the ageing process and can help us lose weight.

Vegetables

Eating vegetables gives your health a great boost. They have excellent amounts of dietary fibre and plant polyphenols, which contribute to a healthy heart and brain, and can even improve our mood. People who eat vegetables regularly have a far lower incidence of chronic disease than those who don't, and veggies are great to have in the kitchen - they're colourful, nutritious and very, very tasty!

Pulses

Pulses are one of the best sources of plant protein available. As well as being extremely tasty, they're also extraordinarily versatile, and can be used in stews, salads, rice dishes or even in sweet dishes. What's more, they're packed with minerals, vitamins and all kinds of compounds beneficial to the health of your body and mind. Pulses are full of fibre, which is associated with a lower risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and bowel cancer. They contain loads of resistant starch, which is a prebiotic and brilliant for controlling your weight. Pulses are also full of a whole load of fantastic vitamins and minerals.
