Cubeb pepper comes from Indonesia and although it can be used in many of the same ways that traditional peppercorns can be, this product definitely has its own distinctive flavour palette. This taste is one that is very familiar to African and Moroccan cuisine, making cubeb the perfect addition and ingredient to any recipes from these parts of the world.
You can use cubeb pepper to make your own homemade five spice mix, especially as this ingredient has flavour essences of allspice and nutmeg. With these subtle flavours, as well as a peppery taste, this makes cubeb pepper a great edition to festive baking and drink-making.
Cubeb Pepper (Piper cubeba).
